No todo es fragilidad [Not everything is fragile], introduces a serie of video-performances where women artists try to explore poetic dimension of the body and the female nature. Through the experimentation in different approaches to performance art, these videos reveal the psychological and physical energy of women, not excluding the beauty, breaking the old conventional image of female as a fragile being.  Most of the videos show a female body incarnated in intense and obsessive actions, including hard efforts, allegories of resistance against the absurd or confrontations with the physical and social limitations.

This year, in addition to acts of performance artists the program of the Thessaloniki Performance Art Festival included video projections representing three other festivаls: Cyprus International Performance Art Festival, VIDEOPLAY and Sofia Underground.
The Thessaloniki Performance Festival, following the biennial rhythm of the  Thessaloniki Biennale, aspires to build and develop an open field of experimentation and a timely dialogue of communication and communion around the ephemeral practice of performance, by promoting and showcasing the latest body-based and experiential pursuits, helping establish the art of performance.

Photography and video works of Performance Art in South America in the 1970s and 1980s. Curated by Silvio de Gracia.

The VENICE INTERNATIONAL PERFORMANCE ART WEEK shows Cuerpos en Disidencia, documents of performance art in South America in the 1970s and 1980s curated by Silvio de Gracia | Videoplay. With works in photography and video by Elias Adasme, Artur Barrio, Paulo Bruscky, El Siluetazo (Rodolfo Aguerreberry, Julio Flores & Guillermo Kexel), Juan Loyola, Gastao de Magalhaes, Clemente Padin, Leticia Parente and Rosemberg Sandoval.

In the years of resistance against dictatorship in the 1970s, a significant part of the art produced in South America assumed the task of configuring itself as a critical counter-power or counter-discourse, which tried to offer the necessary symbolic resources to influence in a way the conflicting political field. In this period, artists and groups began their experiences with action art and urban interventions, trying to subvert the disciplinary discourse of the dictatorial regimes, and to concur to the dispute of territories of significance within the hyper-monitored scenarios of the cities. The strategies and processes of those years shape a historic matrix within the Action Art in South America: a productive platform where the growing politicization of artistic practice is directly related to the role of art as an opponent to denounce and counteract terroristic mechanisms of authoritarianism.

VIDEOPLAY is an Argentina-based international platform for the dissemination of video art. It is a non-profit initiative started in 2004 by visual artist and curator Silvio De Gracia, who holds an extensive experience of organizing and curating international festivals and events dedicated to video art. VIDEOPLAY focuses mainly on the field of video performance and other works that, though not clearly framed within the category of Action Art, reflect a deep anchorage in the performatic sphere. The main purpose is to spread video performances by international artists, with a special focus on Latin America.

[HYPER BODY

Greece
Curated by Silvio De Gracia
Curator partner: The UnifiedField
A new curatorial project of videoperformance is presented at Festival Miden, in Greece

[Hyper Body] introduces a serie of video-performances where artists explore the most extremes possibilities of subversion and manipulation of the body. Through the use of the body in shocking and intense actions, these works reveal unexpected situations of psychological and physical tension. Most of the videos presented a body subjected to high stress states, involved in activities that require contortions, unusual movements, effort and resistance. The extreme body condition constructs images that impact and encourage the viewer to consider their own body under unusual emotional states that are beyond the field of their everyday experience.By manipulating the body in a hyper body dimension, artists can develop new forms of experimentation that articulate surreal approaches, absurd visions,  and the crudest forms of a poetics of carnality. At the same time this type of work shed light on contrasting emotions that force the viewer to rethink their own emotions and thoughts in relation to extreme experiences of the body in the context of performance art.  Silvio De Gracia

Together with the video selection MORE THAN BODIES from TRANSVIDEOPLAY International videoart festival (Junin – Buenos Aires – Argentina), VisualContainerTv presents an interview to his curator Silvio De Gracia, an Argentinian artist and founder of several videoart festivals in Buenos Aires and all over the world.
Silvio here introduces to the video production in Argentina and explains about the current and prospective features of videoart. In particular, he focuses on the concept of “interferencia” and disturbing performance in urban environments and underlines the role of video distribution as a crucial step for the development of videoart in Argentina and beyond.
Curated by Giorgio Fedeli, this interview is the first step of a project involving exclusive interviews to international videoart curators and critics with the wish to inform about the most interesting and possibly unknown video experiences from the origin to the very contemporary days.

URBAN DISTURBANCE
Video performance in public space
Italy
A new curatorial project focused in videoperformance in public sphere is presented at [. BOX] Video Art Project Space from Milan, Italy
MORE THAN BODIES includes video performances and other works which, though not clearly framed within the category of action art, reflect a deep anchorage in the performance sphere. It is an attempt to reveal the presence of the body that is trapped and mediatized by video technology or else, to highlight the no-presence of a body that has become virtual and electronic. It’s an exciting body discourse, but this time the body has ceased to be an object-means to become a mediatized object. “More than bodies” project refers to new bodies in a new intensely ghostly and dissolving presence.
Curator: Silvio De Gracia

[. BOX] Video Art Project Space presents the exhibit Urban Disturbance video, directed by Silvio De Gracia, curator and founder of several video art festivals in Buenos Aires and around the world.

In this review, the curator proposes an approach to the performance through actions in public spaces, with predominantly destructive intent or conflict. These works are strategies and actions that demonstrate the evolution of urban art. Among the videos is proposed in this work "Quien puede borrar las huellas" (Who can erase the traces) of Regina Jose Galindo Golden Lion (artist under 35) at the 51st Venice Biennale.

Urban Disturbance
is pure poetic subversion aimed at the demolition of rationality and standardization of urban and social behavior. It is an opportunity to see the "undisciplined body, the body does not function to the rule, the body that deals with rebel predictability, trying to cross with - micro destabilizing events, unexpected, strange, new paths, or cracks to open further bewilderment in the logic of urban territories. It 's a disorder embodied in an artistic process, ephemeral, contingent and repetitive. Disorder gaps through strategies that make us see the new boundaries and work to break the boundaries between the space of "reality" and the size metaphorical art.
